The SFED programmes

The Sustainable Fair Economic Development (SFED) Programme is aimed at sustainably improving the socio-economic position of poor people through a market mechanism that is fair, social, ecologically sustainable and economically viable. The ICCO Alliance focuses on small producers, employees and self-employed workers in rural areas.

The central aims of these programmes are

IM:Small producers and employees in three production chains gain access to the international market and add value to their products, which initiates a structural change in the sector and improves their socio-economic position.

LMD: Small producers and employees sustainably improving their social economic position within local markets through greater market access, more chain influence and a better competitive position via differentiated strategies.

FS: Due to the access to microfinancial institutions and (innovative) financial services small producers, self-employed workers and employees in rural areas can improve their socio-economic position.

CB: through the deployment of Dutch, transnational and local companies and businesses, small producers, self-employed workers and employees can sustainably improve their socio-economic position and the support in the Netherlands for socially responsible business in the South is increased.

The Climate Plan diminishes CO2 emissions and supports the development of poor countires with alternative energy that does not contribute to global warming. Or by planting trees that fix CO2.
